How to make Holi colors in preschool with Natural Ingredients?
When to do this activity?
You can start preparing for this activity one week before the planned Holi activity in your preschool. Each day you can prepare one color. So before the main Holi activity event in your preschool, you would have 5 colors.
Colors that can be made in preschool along with step by step process
Natural Red Color Powder
Ingredients required: Beet Root, Red Hibiscus flowers or Rose Petals
Process:
- Boil beetroot/Hibiscus/Rose Petals until soft (This can be done by the adults alone)
- Let it cool down
- Grind it and strain the juice
- Keep adding 1 spoon of cornflour in the strained juice and mix it well.
- Repeat this process until the mixture has turned into powder. Use your hands after the 3rd or 4th spoon as a spoon will not work.
- Sun dry the powder or microwave it.
- Your natural red Holi color is ready.
Natural Yellow Color Powder
Ingredients required: Turmeric
Process:
- Add turmeric into water.
- Keep adding 1 spoon of cornflour in the turmeric water and mix it well.
- Repeat this process until the mixture has turned into powder. Use your hands after the 3rd or 4th spoon as a spoon will not work.
- Sun dry the powder or microwave it.
- Your red Holi color is ready.

Ingredients required: Spanish leaves
Process:
- Boil Spanish leaves until soft.

- Sun dry the powder or microwave it.

- Grind it and strain the juice.
- Keep adding 1 spoon of cornflour in the strained juice and mix it well.

- Sun dry the powder or microwave it.
