Cubing Material

The Montessori Cubing Material is a foundational elementary maths material designed to help children explore and internalise the concept of cubes and algebraic identities through concrete manipulation. This beautifully organised wooden partitioned tray contains one cube and twenty-seven squares for each number from 1 to 9, allowing the child to visually and physically build and break down cube structures.

By arranging the coloured components, children discover how quantities combine, how cubes are formed, and how the cube of a number (n³) grows in relation to its squares and units. The material also prepares the child for later abstract concepts such as (a + b)³ expansion, volume relationships, and geometric representation in algebra.
